Glenda Cockrell (Collins)

Glenda COLLINS (08/31/1946 - 06/13/2018)

It is with great sadness that the family of Glenda Collins announces her passing after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the age of 71.
Born in Salmon, ID, on August 31, 1946, to Glen and Jean Cockrell, Glenda moved to Spokane, WA, in the early 50s where she graduated from West Valley High School. She married the love of her life, Bob, in 1965, and together they have three children and ten grandchildren. They later relocated to the Seattle area, and finally settled in Olympia to live the retired life on Summit Lake.
To know Glenda was to love her. She is remembered for having made her home a vibrant, welcoming place where family and friends gathered regularly for conversation and comfort - for a meal, a weekend, or a week's stay. When you couldn't be there in person, Glenda was a phone call away.
Thirteen years ago, Glenda beat her first bout with cancer. Those 13 years meant she saw her youngest daughter married, seven grandchildren finish high school, two grandchildren born, and numerous holiday celebrations with those she loved.
Glenda will be remembered fondly by her loving husband of 52 years, Bob; her sister, Jackie Horton; her children and their spouses, Charlie and Jodi, Cristen, and Cara and Brian; and her 10 grandchildren: Curran, Nate, Ben, Devyn, Holden, Carson, Parker, Harrison, Everleigh and Anderson, as well as by countless friends and extended family.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and hospice for their care throughout Glenda's illness. They would also like to thank all the people who visited her, particularly during the last few weeks; you all brought her so much joy and comfort.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Mayday foundation at https://maydayfoundation.org/ which gives support to families who are coping with cancer in Thurston County.
A celebration of Glenda's life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
