Edward Clay Ulbright passed away peacefully at his home in Liberty Lake, Washington on November 24, 2021, with his wife by his side.

He was born August 14, 1946, in Spokane, Washington to Marvin Clay and Esther Katharina Ulbright. He graduated from West Valley High School in 1964 and attended SCC for one year. On October 29, 1966, Eddie married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Carter. They recently celebrated 55 years of marriage with an open house at their home in Liberty Lake. They were blessed with three children.

He became a member of Spokane 4H Racing Pigeon Club at the age of 14, and as an adult was a member of Spokane Racing Pigeon Club for 54 years. During this time Eddie spent many years as Financial Secretary and Race Secretary for the club. Breeding, raising, training, and racing homing pigeons was his lifelong passion.

He also loved to fish, bike, cross country ski, play church softball and basketball, and play in various recreation leagues. He also coached church youth teams and held various positions as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He was a member of  Spokane Mountaineers for 28 years. He worked for Rosauers for 33 years, 26 of which were as Meat Department Manager. Eddie tripled the size of their first home and built two more from the ground up with the help of his dad, Marvin, his brother, Larry, and several friends. This was on-the-job training since Eddie was not a builder!

Eddie is survived by his wife Bonnie Ulbright, his daughter Lori (Todd) Sparrow, his son Brian (Anne) Ulbright, grandchildren Brady (Haley Kanski) Sparrow, Taylor Sparrow, Michael (Emily) Roberts, Brianna (Brian Piehler) Ulbright, and Sam Ulbright. He has two great-grandchildren, Paxtyn and Lucas. He is also survived by siblings Arlene (Don) Whitney, Janice (Jeff) Renfrow, Shirley (John) Sullivan, and Larry (Janet) Ulbright, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Esther, and his infant son.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 23515 E. Boone Ave., Liberty Lake, WA on December 13. A viewing will be at 9:30 am, with the service at 10:30 am, and finger desserts, and a slide show at 11:30 am. Ed will be laid to rest at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Spokane and Good Samaritan Society - Spokane Valley for the loving care Eddie received and the love and support our family was given.
